Entry Fee: $20.00
Entry fee includes grill, charcoal and meat.

 

Rules and Regulations

1. Age group: 6 thru 15. Each paid entry will consist of only one cook and one parent / guardian supervisor.

2. Hamburgers are the meat class for all contestants. Raw hamburger meat and buns will be provided. 1 lb of hamburger will be distributed to the team at the Cookís Meeting. Hamburgers may have anything mixed into them (bring your own sauces, toppings, etc...). Two hamburgers must be submitted in the box provided.

3. Garnish is permitted, but not required in this competition.

4. The Child/Cook must do the preparation, cooking, and presentation. The parent / guardian supervisor may assist with fires and slicing. If a child is unable to do all of the above on his/her own, he/she is too young to cook.

5. Special needs children need not be eliminated from competition, but will be allowed to do as much as they are able with some help from an assigned person.

6. Grills & charcoal will be provided for the contestants.

7. Children will each cook in a designated area. Only one child/cook and one supervisor are permitted in this designated area. The child/cook must remain in the designated area during the cooking process. Each child cook may bring a small table to cook on Ė no longer than 4 feet in length Ė no tables will be provided. Each child will be provided with a spatula--all other utensils must be brought by the child's team. All items must be within the teamís designated area at start.

8. Parent / guardian supervisor must be present with the child/cook through the entire cooking process.

9. Entries will be submitted in numbered containers provided by Smoke on the Prairie.

10. The Child/Cook must be standing in the designated "Turn In Area" by the turn in time for that age group. 

11. Judging will be based on appearance, tenderness/texture and taste.

12. Judging will range from 9 being the highest to 1 being the lowest.

13. Entries do not need to be affiliated with a team that is competing in Smoke on the Prairie.

14. Absolutely NO alcohol in the preparation / cooking area.

15. A limit of 12 total entries will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. We will have 10 entries available per age group.

Competing in a BBQ competition can be dangerous.  The Brimfield Area Menís club, and the event organizers have taken steps to provide a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for competitors and guests, but competitors must assume responsibility for their own safety and the safety of those around them.

The Brimfield Area Menís Club, the event sponsors, the Brimfield American Legion, and the event organizers are not responsible for any injuries, illness, harassment, or damage to person or property than may incur as a result of competing and participating in Smoke on the Prairie.
